Top up your Flash Wallet

Flash offers multiple ways to top up your flash wallet. Here’s a quick summary of your options:

  1. Bank Transfer - Add funds directly from your bank account
  2. Receive from Another Wallet - Accept a top up from another Flash wallet, or any bitcoin or Lightning compatible wallet (e.g., Coinbase, Binance, Blue Wallet, Phoenix, Breez)
  3. Accept Payments - Receive payments directly to your Flash wallet for goods or services you provide
  4. From Exchange Points - Visit local Flash exchange points to convert bitcoin to physical cash

Choose the method that works best for your situation, or use a combination of these approaches to build your Flash balance.

Add Cash directly to your Flash wallet from your Jamaican bank account with these steps:

Step 1: Initiate a top up in the Flash app

  1. Open your Flash app and log in
  2. Tap the “Top Up” button on the home screen
  3. Enter the amount you wish to transfer
  4. Tap “Confirm” to create a unique reference code for this transfer
  5. Copy the reference code to your clipboard or write it down
  6. Review the bank transfer instructions provided in the app

Step 2: Set up Flash as a recipient in your bank account (one-time setup)

  1. Access your bank’s website or mobile app
  2. Enter your credentials to log in to your online banking account
  3. Navigate to the “Transfer” or “Payments” section
  4. Select “Add New Recipient” or “Manage Payees” in your banking portal
  5. Enter Flash’s banking details. For security, Flash’s bank account information isn’t published here — contact support@flashapp.me or visit your nearest Flashpoint to get the current account details (account name, bank, branch, and account number) to add Flash as a recipient.
  1. Choose “Make a Transfer” or “New Payment” in your banking portal
  2. Select Flash from your list of recipients
  3. Enter the amount you wish to transfer
  4. Choose ACH (for smaller amounts) or RTGS (for larger transfers)
  5. In the reference field, enter the unique reference code you copied earlier IMPORTANT: This reference code is essential for Flash to credit your account
  1. Review the transfer details and confirm the transaction
  2. You’ll receive a confirmation notification from your bank
  3. The funds will appear in your Flash app typically within one hour of Flash receiving them
  4. Transfers are processed same-day if initiated during business hours on weekdays
  5. Weekend transfers will be processed on the next business day

You can receive Cash from any bitcoin or Lightning wallet worldwide:

  1. Open your Flash app and tap the “Receive” button
  2. Choose whether to use your Lightning address or bitcoin address
  3. Tap “Copy” to copy your address to the clipboard
  4. Share your address with the sender via messaging app, email, etc.
  5. Wait for the bitcoin to arrive in your wallet as Cash (typically within seconds to minutes)

For in-person transfers, have the sender scan your QR code directly from your screen for instant transfers.

As a business owner or freelancer, you can easily accept Flash payments:

  1. Set up a Flash account with your business details
  2. Generate a payment request for the specific amount due
  3. Have customers scan your QR code or send to your Lightning address
  4. Receive instant confirmation when payment is complete

For frequent payments, consider printing out dedicated QR codes for specific products or services. You can find the dedicated QR code in the settings of your Flash app under “Printable Static QR Codes”.

If you prefer starting with physical cash, you can use exchange points:

  2. Visit the location with your physical cash
  3. Follow the exchange point’s process to convert to bitcoin in your wallet
  4. Confirm the funds appear in your Flash wallet
